Galtier Gazette
A Quick Glimpse into our Weekly Happenings
Principal's Corner
Greetings!
It is with a heavy heart that I write you all to let you know that our fearless K/1 teacher Ms. German is no longer at Galtier Community School. We are fortunate to have a building substitute teacher that has been a consistent guest teacher in the K/1 studio alongside our superhero classroom teaching assistant Ms. Deb Crowley.
Please know I am working closely with SPPS to fill the vacancy as soon as possible and will communicate any updates as soon as possible.
As always, thank you for your continued support as we navigate these tough times,
Daria

HEPA Air Purifier Donation
The 3M Company has donated Filtrete HEPA air purifiers to SPPS for use in our schools. These units will serve to supplement the effective strategies SPPS already has in place to respond to the ongoing Covid pandemic, which include increased filtration and ventilation. Expected delivery is this week.
Each school that has Pre-K through 5th grade programming will receive enough air purifiers to cover general classrooms and specialists for these grade levels as follows:
At Galtier we will place two (2) units in each Pre-K - 5th grade general classroom, science room, art room, and music room.

Wikki Stix are a great way to work on fine motor skills, colors/shapes/letters/numbers, and creativity!

In reading we are are investigating stories about- Exploring the Natural World: Insects: Why is it important to learn about the animals in our world?
And in math we have been working on patterns, place value and addition/subtraction problem solving.
If you are wondering about you can help your scholars from home:
- Read to them and/or have them read to you. Any reading helps...cereal boxes, magazines, online books on their Ipads...even flyers you get in the mail.
- Work on simple addition and subtraction problems. You can write them down for them, create flashcards or use the ST Math app on their Ipads.
Thank you so much for all you do to help our scholars succeed!
