General information that applies to all students and parents can be found towards the top of every newsletter, while information specific to your child's ensemble can be found in that particular section by scrolling down.
After you've read through everything, feel free to contact a director if you have any questions. All of our contact information is at the bottom of this newsletter.
School-Owned Instrument Payments Due
As a reminder, payments for Plans 2 and 4 are due this Friday, January 13 via cash, check, or online via RevTrak. Plan #2 is $50 and Plan #4 is $12.50. Thank you for taking care of this.
*Order Jazz Band Hoodies By This Friday*
With the cold weather here, does your student need a(nother) hoodie to wear? Interested in ordering a hoodie for Band? For the first time ever, we are now placing orders for a Band Hoodie that features our Jazz Band logo! No, you do not have to be in Jazz Band to order one!
Click on the form below to order one NO LATER THAN THIS FRIDAY, January 13. Cost is $25, due by Friday, January 20 at 4pm:
Band Picture Day - February 1
Our annual Band Picture Day is coming up on Wednesday, February 1. Students will wear their band uniform to school that day and take their ensemble picture during their normal class period. Beginners will meet in the Game Gym during 2nd Period STRIPES to take their group picture. These are the pictures that will be featured on the Band pages of the Yearbook.
You will have the opportunity to order individual pictures of your band student with their instrument in their band uniform on this day as well. Photo Texas Photography will be providing a variety of products. Order forms will be provided directly to students during the last week of January so you can decide ahead of time. Alternatively, you may choose to order online. More information will be forthcoming.
Solo & Ensemble Contest
- Woodwinds will perform in the morning from 9:00-11:30am - Woodwinds Click Here to Sign-Up for A Time

Parent Chaperone Sign-Up
Solo Assignments Coming Soon
Students will soon get their Solo Assignment to complete, which helps them to become familiar with their instrument solo they will be performing at our Solo Contest on Saturday, February 18.
Once completed, we ask for parents to sign this in order for them to show you what they are learning, and how you can best support them to prepare for this upcoming performance!
Sign Up for Remind Texts for Beginners
If you haven't already, make sure you sign up for our Remind texts for the Beginner's Ensemble here. Students may do this as well with parent permission. This is important piece of communication to receive reminders throughout the year.
*Sectionals Start This Week*
We will be preparing for our UIL Concert & Sightreading Evaluation, which happens on Wednesday, March 8 at Lake Belton HS. This is our biggest group contest of the year, and we will be restarting after school sectionals this week. The times for all sectionals (including Percussion) will be 4:00-5:00pm, and a grade will be taken for each sectional:
- Symphonic Band Brass members (trumpets, horns, trombones, euphoniums, & tubas) will have their sectional every Monday.
- Symphonic Band Percussion members will have their sectional every Wednesday.
- Symphonic Band Woodwind members (flutes, oboe, bassoon, clarinets, & saxophones) will have their sectional every Thursday.
Thank you in advance for making preparations to pick up your student promptly at 5:00pm at the bus loop/staff parking lot.

*Chair Test This Week*
Jazz Band will be having their next chair test this Thursday to determine music parts for the upcoming Temple Jazz Festival contest performance coming up on Thursday, March 30.
The test is from our new 10-Minute Jazz Warm-Up: m. 17-44 at 108 bpm. The grading rubric includes: Articulation - 50%, Note Accuracy - 25%, and Pulse - 25%.
All-Region Jazz Auditions
We are preparing for the TMEA All-Region Jazz Auditions, which takes place on Friday, February 3 at Bonham MS in Temple. More information about these auditions will be given when we get closer to the date.
