... Where Reading is Our Super Power
Book Fair Tidbits
We did fairly well this year with the fair. We profited $2300 and earned $408 in rewards for participating/hosting various activities while the fair was here. So that's a total of $2708!
Whoo-hoo! This money will be spent through the Scholastic catalog on Common Core materials. If you have any additional request, let me know.
We will have another Scholastic Fair in February. I expressed my concerns with the rising Common Core standards with my consultant. She transferred me to one of the head representatives with Scholastic for me to further this discussion. After a lengthy conversation, he assures me we will have some books correlated to these standards that are appropriate for our students for this next fair.
If you have any other concerns, please let me know.
Just a little interesting fact from my book fair data - We sold 403 pencils and money erasers! I think I've found me a new side job! :-)
Snap Shot Day
Computers - H:/ DRIVE
First, we are getting ready to have A LOT of discards. I'll have them on a cart like I usually do if you would like to go through them. Second, we are also getting ready to get in LOTS of new books. Please be patient as we try and enhance the collection. Thank you for your support!!!
December Poem - Lots of good stuff you could do with this!
December staged a party. A million snowflakes came.
Ms. Wind forced them to mingle. No two were dressed the same.
Streetlights lit the dance floor. Trees shimmied in the squall.
Blizzard brought his rock 'n' roll. Guests loved the snowy ball!

Christmas / Winter Holiday Resources
This is a wonderful site for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. You can click on the holiday you wish to learn more about and a new page will open full of information. There are several options for different components to be read to the students. There is music from each of these holidays, free clip art, lots of kid-friendly information, games, crafts, etc. There’s also a printable template for the students to create their own holiday scrapbook of how they celebrate the winter holiday season. This could serve as the pre-writing/idea starter for their writing.
