Kindergarten continues to be a busy place in 2014!

Students participate in guided reading groups Monday through Thursday with writing on Friday. Writing instruction includes writing in complete sentences, starting sentence with capital letters and an ending mark. We are also emphasizing using lower case letters within a sentence and finger spaces between words. Handwriting instruction and spelling word sorts are also practiced each day. Our letters this month will be Ff, Hh, Dd, and Rr. We will continue to work on compound words, counting syllables, word families, and sounding out words.

Content this month will include New Year’s Resolutions, Martin Luther King, Jr., Black History, and Maps.

Don’t Forget… To send your child to school dressed appropriately for the weather. The students do go outside unless the temperature outside is 20 degrees or below.

We need you! Volunteer!

We need volunteers in our classroom for Math and Reading. Our math block is from 9:30 to 11:00 and our Reading block is from 12:30-1:45. Please sign up with your homeroom teacher or on Please email your child's teacher if you need some more information about volunteering in the classroom.

Mrs. Trudden would also like help in technology on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:45 to 2:45 when the Kindergarten classes are in her room.
