World War One Begins (1914)

It all started after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand at Sarajevo on June 28th, 1914. World War One went on for a really long time actually. It started August 1st, 1914 and ended November 11th, 1918. War went on for four years, and eight days. The Allies one World War One, but still had many losts in the war.

Intresting Facts About World War One

* In World War One, many women joined the working forces. The women who worked with TNT, saw their skin begin to turn yellow as they suffered from toxic jaundice.

* Many young men faked their age in order to sign up early. The youngest was Sidney Lewis who was only 12 years old at the time.

* Germans were the first to use flamethrowers in world war one. The flamethrowers could fire jets of flame 130 feet.

* More than 65 million men from 30 diffrent countries faught in World War One.

* During World War One dogs were used as messengers and carried orders to the front lines in capsules attached to their bodies.

Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929)

He was a French Prime Minister from 1917-1920. He was known as "Tiger". He took harsh positionn against Germany at the Treaty of Versailles.

David Lloyd George (1863-1945)

David was born in Manchester. His father died when he was a young age, and his mother took him to Wales to be raised. He then became a life long Welsh nationalist. He qualified as a solicitor and in 1840 was elected.

Why Were Texans Intrested In World War One???

Texans were intested in World War One from the beginning of the conflict in Europe. With the sinking of the Lusitina in May 1915. That is why the Texans were intrested in World War One.

Why did i choose World War One?

I chose World War One, because it was a major event in the Texas history. It caused alot of problems, but also settled alot of problems. Many people were killed but at least the faught for the lives.
