HISTORY OF THE FLUTE
The flute is the oldest woodwind instrument. It was invented thousands of years ago and made out of bone. It was 13 inches long, had 5 finger holes, and a v-shaped mouth piece and only one section. People believe that early humans used them for hunting or rituals.
The flute is the oldest known instrument. It is 42,000 year old. It originated in France. The flute was first made in the 9th century B.C. The first likely flute was called the "ch-ie" and emerged in China. The 19th century, marked great modifications for the flute.
Today's flute is based on Boehm's innovations with great modifications that vary somewhat depending on the instrument maker. Albert Cooper made a major rescaling of the flute in the 1960's. This standard pitch is now the worldwide standard.
The flute is played in a horizontal position These types of flutes are called transverse flutes. The flute is played by blowing over the hole and blowing.

Jasmine Choi is a professional Korean flutist who is known for releasing a range of solo albums and collaborative projects. She is also known for having served as Principal Flute of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Principal Flute of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
She studied at the Curtis Institute of Music. She later attended Juilliard School where she won the Albert M. Greenfield Student Competition presented by the Philadelphia Orchestra. Her first album was released by Sony BMG in 2006 which was a recording of her performing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's concerto for Flute and Harp.
In 2016, she was named as a Cultural Ambassador of her hometown of Daejeon, Korea. She is also known for having been included in Symphony Magazine's list of emerging artists in 2006.
She was born in Seoul, South Korea but was raised in Daejeon.
Jasmine Choi is known for having translated and covered "12 Fantasies for Solo Flute" by Georg Philipp Telemann and released it on the Austrian Gramophone Record Label.
