CPU (Central Processing unit)

The CPU, often called the processor, contain a microprocessor. Microprocessor controls all the PC’s operation and the performance of hardware and software will depend on how well the processor performes. There are two examples of largest CPU manufacterers for PC and they are Intel and AMD. 32-bit and 64-bit are the common CPU architectures, and some softwares depend on this architecture distinction.

Motherboards

The motherboard is found in all the modern computers, smartphones, laptops etc. Motherboard holds many of the crucial components such as the CPU, memory etc. All the components has to be connected through the motherboard in some ways whether it is inside or out. Most of the components, which are on the motherboard, are replaceable without even replacing the motherboard. But some particular components, which are important, are attached to the motherboard. There are various sizes and standards of motherboards, for different devices. For example, smartphones are going to need a smaller motherboard than a computer and also the motherboard will need to handle different sizes and types of ports for attaching external devices.

Optical Drive (ODD)

In most computers, there is an optical drive which is a disk drive that uses laser light or electromagnetic waves within or near the visible light spectrum to read or write to or from an optical disk. Blu-ray, DVD players etc. are used to read from a disk to play the disk on a screen.

Inputs/ outputs

In a computer, input/output is the way to communicate a PC and the outside world, could be a human or another information processing system. Input and output devices take in or give out information from something. Some examples of an input and output devices of a computer are: keyboard, mouse, screen, printer, monitor, speaker and etc.

Touchscreen

A touchscreen is an electronic visual display which is able to detect the presence and location of a finger touch or a hand within the display area. An advantage of a touchscreen is that it enables to interact with what is displayed directly without having to use any input devices (except for a stylus, which is a pen for touchscreens to draw things or write things). Touchscreen are common in devices such as smartphones, game consoles, tablet computers etc
