HFRCS Newsletter SY 2022-2023

November 1, 2022 - Vol.2 Issue 10

From the Principal's Office

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy Solemnity of All Saints! This morning at Mass, we praised and thanked God for the lives of the saints; those recognized by the Church, and those we see every day. We are all called to be Saints! Tomorrow we will celebrate the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed, or All Souls Day. It is a special day (and month!) to pray for our departed family and friends. On Friday, our 8th grade will host the Living Saints Museum, where the saints come alive and tell us about their lives and answer questions. All our classes will have an opportunity to visit the Living Saints Museum. As part of the “admission” to the Saints Museum, we are asking each student to bring in an item for our Thanksgiving Food Drive. Each class will be collecting specific items so that we can provide full Thanksgiving dinners for those in our parishes and the local community. Food can be brought in anytime between now and November 21. Please see more information in today’s newsletter.

Today also begins the winter uniform. All students should be prepared to wear the winter uniform as outlined in the Family Handbook and as provided in the pictures in this newsletter. Winter uniform means there is no more wearing of shorts as part of the regular school uniform or gym uniform. Our Swap Shop still has available items for the winter uniform.

This month our teachers will be providing Safe Environment lessons to their students during the religion period. Safe Environment lessons review “safe touch” protocols that ensure the safety of our students. If you have any questions about Safe Environment, please reach out to your child’s teacher, or you can review the Safe Environment lesson here.

Our Hawk Walk was again a wonderful success and since we reached our school goal, we will be heading to the Turkey Bowl again this year! Donations are still being accepted and the online platform remains open until this Friday, November 4. Thank you all for your support of this year’s Hawk Walk!

Parent Teacher conferences are being held on Monday evening, November 7 and during the school day on Tuesday, November 8. (No School for students on November 8) Due to Queen of the Universe having their PREP classes also on Monday evening, some teachers will have an alternative meeting space. Please look for more information in an email coming to you tomorrow about Monday evening conferences. I thank you in advance for your cooperation with our shared space.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Mrs. Haggerty

November 11 Transportation

November 11 is Veterans Day. Parent drop-off and pick-up are needed for all students taking the bus except for Neshaminy. Due to more than usual students using carline on Friday, November 11, please expect the wait to be a little bit longer in the morning and afternoon.

To ensure that students get into the school building quickly and safely when using morning carline, please:

  • Pull up your car in front of the Parish Center where you will be greeted by a staff member. Do not park and bring your child to the front door.
  • Parents must stay in the vehicle at all times. We have staff ready to open doors and assist your child(ren) out of the vehicle.
  • Have your child(ren) exit by the right passenger side (if possible) so they can safely exit toward the sidewalk.
  • Have your child(ren) ready to go with their belongings (e.g. backpack, water bottles), so they do not leave anything behind.

For carline dismissal, please:

  • Line up in the church parking lot.
  • Display your family number by the front passenger window so staff can record your carline number quickly.
  • Make sure your child knows their carline number.
  • Wait for direction from a staff member before pulling out of your lane. We appreciate your patience as our goal is to have all students dismissed as safely as possible.
