Spring has sprung!
Winter is finally over, as is the third marking period. Spring sports are underway, and spring break will hopefully recharge everyone. PSSA testing will occur in a couple weeks. We are in for the final push to the end of the school year. Please help make sure your child continues to do all the things that have made this school year a success. The teachers on 7-Black are looking forward to an amazing end to a wonderful school year.
Please continue to stay updated on your child’s academic progress through powerschool.

Why do you enjoy teaching at KV?
I was delighted to return to KV. There is a positive energy in the building. My colleagues are amazing. They are supportive, great problem solvers and very student centered. I love working with middle school students and enjoy their unique personalities.
Why did you choose to teach your subject?
I originally chose to teach Special Education classes because I was inspired by one of my own children. I have a passion for reading, writing, and history in my personal life, so teaching Language arts and Social Studies was a dream come true! Now that I am co-teaching Math, it is becoming one of my favorite subjects too!
If you could only give 7th graders one piece of advice to be successful, what would it be?
Set goals for yourself –daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. Track your goals and when you accomplish them celebrate! When you don’t make them, problem-solve and find a different way to move towards them

Math with Mr. Wigand, Miss Lee, and Mrs. Bloomquist
Most math classes are finishing Module 4. We’re only doing a few sections in Module 4. In Module 4 we’ll be covering topics like area of 2D figures, surface area and volume of 3D space figures, and probability involving multi-stage experiments.
The Algebra class is finishing up chapter 7 and will soon start chapter 8. Chapter 8 focuses on working with exponents.
Most classes are continuing to work with technology like Desmos, Khan Academy, and Educreations.
All math classes are also continuing with basic skills review and problem solving practice.

We are beginning our Ecology unit this month. On April 20th students will be traveling to the Jarrett Nature Center to work on a “Biodiversity Bio-blitz”. Students will be at 3 different stations and be able to identify different species of plants and animals in our community. Students are asked to dress appropriately for the day’s activities (long pants/sleeves, hats, sunscreen, etc). We will be traveling to the JNC during school hours-one group in the morning and one in the afternoon for about 2 hours each. The remainder of the day will be spent back in regular classes. A separate email will also be sent as a reminder closer to the date. We are looking forward to a beautiful spring.
