Hello Hilltopper Families!
Kindness Week has been underway all week and the students, AND STAFF, have been loving the daily themes. There are lots of awesome pictures in the newsletter today. Stay tuned for updates on the winning classes and students who get to pie me in the face. I am really looking forward to it. We were fortunate to have Basketball Jones here today reminding our students of the importance of kindness, as well as reinforcing TOGETHER, HILLTOPPERS CLIMB TO THE TOP!
In other news, we are getting geared up for our One School One Book festivities and can’t wait for the BIG REVEAL at an all school assembly on Friday, March 1. Every student will receive a free copy of the book from the book vending machine, along with some other goodies and activities that coincide with the book’s theme. Every night, you will be asked to read a short section of the book WITH your child. Park staff members will also record various chapters of the book so you can follow along that way too. We can’t wait for this wonderful opportunity to make home and school reading connections.
Please also mark your calendars for Family Literacy Night which is held at school on Wednesday, March 20th. This is an engaging and educational event designed to promote literacy skills and a love for reading within families. Please see details below in the newsletter and RSVP to this event so that we can plan properly.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee
Stay Tuned!

Message from the Clinic
Hi everyone! We would like to clarify the services we provide daily in the clinic. We are allowed to do daily care, first aid and emergent care. If any over the counter medication or prescribed meds are needed there are required forms allowing us to administer the medication/medicine. We have copies of the forms in the clinic and they are also available online under the HEALTH SERVICES page. If your child is in a boot, on crutches, in a sling, has a cast for safety reasons, we need a note from the treating doctor. A letter is also required for any treatments or accommodations that may be needed outside a normal educational day. For example: extended time to get to class, excused from gym, indoor recess, restricted from using the steps, etc.. It would be best practice to ALWAYS provide the school with a Dr.'s note if they have an appointment during the school day
If you have any questions please give us a call at Park or Munson. Thank you!

🐾 STAFF PET SPOTLIGHT! 🐾
Introducing our latest newsletter feature – "Park Pets!" Each week, we will spotlight a different staff member and their beloved furry, feathery, or scaly pet, sharing heartwarming stories, fun facts and adorable photos. It's a wonderful way to get to know our team on a more personal level and celebrate the joy that pets bring to our lives. Who can resist the charm of a wagging tail or a purring friend? We hope you enjoy meeting the beloved pets of our Park staff!
All students at Park participated in the Basketball Jones assembly today which focused on taking responsibility, being kind and persevering. By emphasizing these core values, students were prompted to reflect on the impact of their actions and decisions on the well-being of others, as well as how this contributes to a positive and supportive school environment.
Growth Mindset "The Power of Yet"
This powerful assembly focused on the importance of students having a Growth Mindset. Students learned about perseverance, being kind ALWAYS and that it is okay to make mistakes. The students met “Yeti,” a featured character from his book: Bouncy and The Power of Yet. One lucky student even won his very own Yeti. This fun and engaging assembly left our students inspired and empowered to keep trying and persevere.

IMPORTANT- BLIZZARD BAGS
Since we have reached our 5th calamity day, we want to inform you about our Blizzard Bag Plan for Park Elementary which went home on February 9th. We are providing Blizzard Bags to your child in the event of inclement weather resulting in a school closure. This will enable your child to continue their learning at home. These bags will contain TWO DAYS WORTH of assignments and activities which align with their current curriculum. Your child's teacher will provide instructions and we encourage you to engage with your child in completing these assignments to ensure continuity in their education. As for the specials classes, complete ONLY the activity for the special the child has on that calamity day. You will have 10 school days to complete each day's Blizzard Bag assignments. For example, if we have a snow day on March 1, the bag would be due on March 15th. We appreciate your support in making learning a collaborative effort, even on snow days. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school office.
