Planning for the 2020-2021 School Year
Districts across Oregon are busy planning for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. We continue to work on developing teaching and learning models that best serve our students, staff and families, while maintaining safe and healthy distancing practices. The guidance found at the links below is very complex and challenging for districts to put into action. Our goals are to get students in our buildings as often as guidance will allow. We know we can get half of our kids in our buildings in a given day, but are working on models that may allow for all students to be on-site at the same time. It is still too early to provide detailed information with parents. We will be seeking additional feedback from families as our planning progresses. Every model considered impacts staffing, transportation and Food Services. We hope to present a preliminary plan to the school board at their regular meeting on July 13th at 6:30 pm. Our final plan will be presented to the school board on August 10th, the final plan is due to ODE and Oregon Health Authority on August 15th. The board meeting can be watched remotely at https://zoom.us/j/92909864183?pwd=YysrMHVrbTJQdlZjdW0wNkVaTkMzQT09
We are currently collecting planning information from families through a survey at: https://forms.gle/RHs7G7CaXc7cGssKA As of July 1st we have 202 responses. We will leave the survey open for another week, if you haven't already, please take a few moments to provide feedback for our planning process. We will share the results at the board meeting July 13th.

Mt. Angel Schools Provide Grab-N-Go Meals Through the Summer

Students and/or families can stop by St. Mary’s Public Elementary School located at 590 E. College Street in Mt. Angel between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., Monday -Friday. The "Grab-n-Go" breakfast/lunch program will continue through August 21st.
Athletic Participation at Schools is Still On Hold
Everyone is anxious for activities and sports participation to get back to normal as soon as possible. At this time, Mt. Angel Schools continue to be closed to activities in and on our facilities. The risk continues to challenge reopening facilities to these activities. Some districts are allowing limited participation, however, we are choosing to remain closed until we receive further guidance from ODE on the liability of school districts and individual's overseeing the process. As of July 1, 2020, liability insurance for school districts across Oregon no longer covers claims related to communicable diseases. The Oregon Legislative Assembly is expected to address this liability issue in their next special session, scheduled for as early as the second week in July. We are working to get kids active again, as soon as possible. The latest information for sports can be found on the OSAA website at http://www.osaa.org/coronavirus.
