Reminders
This week, group A will come to art on Wednesday. Since they have missed their specials once already this month, we decided to switch with the Wednesday groups so the Monday groups don't get so far behind
Remember your child may bring a paint shirt to school to wear on art days. Otherwise, "dress for mess" on those days.
If you get the newspaper, please send old ones to school for the art room. I use them to cover the tables while painting.

Poster making hints
A poster is usually viewed by people on the move; therefore, a poster should;
- Be carefully planned with pencil on a smaller piece of paper
- Convey a message or information
- Contain one main idea
- Not be cluttered
- Avoid too many words
- Use lightly drawn guidelines for lettering that are erased when the poster is completed
- Either emphasize letters or emphasize illustration
- Emphasize contracts (lights against darks, warm colors against cool colors, etc.)
- Be eye-catching
- Be easy to read
- Be limited in colors
- Use a variety of media as appropriate
- If the poster is for a contest, make sure the words and illustrations fit the theme
- Follow the rules of the contest or project carefully
- Show no errors in spelling or punctuation
- Be neat and presentable
- Be original and creative (Do you own work)
For posters done for a contest:.
1. Make sure your child does all the work. You can certainly advise, but never draw on your child's work.
2. Follow contest guidelines carefully. Most have very specific rules.
3. Make sure to turn in the artwork or poster by the deadline.
4. For posters: Keep the concept simple. Large lettering and simple graphics make the most effective posters. Make sure the message is positive and fits to the theme.
