Ruby Bridges Day 2021
What an amazing day of fun and learning in honor of our namesake, Ruby Bridges! The morning started with an outdoor assembly at the stage and wrapped up with a VIP virtual visit from Ms. Ruby herself! AMAZING!
Thank you....
Ruby Stars for your beautiful words, artwork, and learning.
Ruby staff for your dedication in teaching about Ruby Bridges, This is Our Time.
Supt. Scuderi and AUSD School Board for your presence and encouraging words.
Ruby Community for your display of love and support. The pride our students felt as they were clapped into our front gates was indescribable- what an impact!
Ms. Cline and Ms. Furuichi Fong for your dedicated planning of this event!
AAA and the Ruby Bridges Foundation for this across county partnership- we appreciate the gifts of Ruby pencils, stickers, posters, flags masks, and buttons.
We look forward to celebrating this annual event next November! Make sure to read the article in the Family and Staff newsletter (below). We do have a Ruby display wall at District Office. It features a variety of student work to highlight our learning around Ruby Bridges. We also gifted every AUSD elementary school with a set of RB books! https://rubybridges.foundation/
Ruby's Dance-A-Thon Success
Thank you for all of your support of our annual Dance-A-Thon. I am thrilled to share that we reached our goal and raise MORE than $15,000.
WE RAISED $15,398.51
Every single check, dollar, and penny brought in by students helped us reach our goal. These funds are put back to work at our school by the PTA for classroom supplies, STEAM programming, library books, and free community events.
We hope you asked your students about the Dance-A-Thon because we all had a blast together! Students and staff danced to music spun by local DJ Shy, played yard games like Jenga, and had healthy snacks to recharge before heading back to finish our day. We hope to be able to welcome visitors to the celebration again next year.
And of course, because we reached our goal, Vice Principal Martin, Mr. E, Mr. Z, and myself were all covered in toilet paper and silly string!
Thank you again for your continued support and thank you to the volunteers who worked hard to plan this event for students and staff.
THANK YOU Ruby Bridges PTA!!!
No toys, candy, or Pokemon cards at school
If items are brought to school without permission, they will be confiscated. Let's work as a team to support healthy habits and minimize conflicts.

Some important reminders...
- Plan for a timely drop-off and pick-up. Instruction begins at 8:20 for Kinder-5th grades. TK hours are 8:30-12:15 pm. We dismiss at 2:50 pm for 1st-5th grades. Please plan for an on time pick up as we do not have supervision afterschool.
- If you are dropping off and picking up students, you MUST do so along the curb. DO NOT drop students in the middle of the drive through lane. Used the coned lane for safety. Pay attention to the crosswalks and families in the parking lot. DRIVE SLOWLY!!!!
- Please PARK in the parking lot at the end of the Ruby driveway. Our limited parking is for staff.
- All adults are being reminded to wear a mask during drop off. Thank you for modeling for students and families. Safety is important to all of us!
- Breakfast and lunch are free for all students; however, we still need you to complete the lunch application so our Title 1 status is not jeopardized. Here is lunch application: www.myschoolapps.com
- Attendance is important! Make sure your student arrives on time for learning as every day counts. If your student is absent, please email our attendance clerk, Ms. Jones, at sjones@alamedaunified.org or call 510-748- 4006, ext. 06751. Late students should report to the office.
Site safety and Covid Protocols
If you suspect your student is sick, PLEASE keep them at HOME. We are also asking that ALL students are tested this week. You may visit Wood Middle School or Alameda High school (3-6pm)for a test. Students exhibiting symptoms of Covid while at school will be sent home. Under no circumstances should you send students who are ill to school.
Masks should be on at all times while on campus. This is for both adults and students. Masks are only removed for eating and drinking. We will prioritize handwashing and safe hygiene. As shared in prior communication, all classrooms have multiple layers of ventilation.
Mandatory Covid testing for ALL students. If you have not given consent for testing through Aeries data confirmation, your child WILL BE SENT HOME FOR AN AT HOME QUARINTINE for 10 days. This is the case if there is a positive case within your student's classroom.
Water stations are now open, send a labeled water bottle for your student. Also, continue to talk to your child about safety protocols, (no) body contact between them and other students.
