Centennial's "Newsday Tuesday"!
Centennial Elementary Families' Weekly Newsletter 9/13/22
A Note from the Principal
Hi, Centennial Families!
I hope that you were able to get out to enjoy some of the beautiful weather we've had recently!
I'm so happy to share with you that things are really off to a great start this year; we see evidence everywhere that our students are experiencing a more "normal" school year, and we celebrate this with you! Classes are busily working on citizenship projects, science experiments, learning part of speech, math facts, etc. and it is just a joyful experience to witness the great work our students and staff are doing.
Beginning of Year Assessments
Teachers are currently administering our beginning-of-the-year assessments to our students.
In the younger grades, these math and reading skill assessments are often administered 1-1, where for our students in the upper grades, the assessments are online through our AimsWeb Plus platform. AimsWeb (Achievement Improvement Monitoring System) is a research-based screening and progress monitoring system used to efficiently and quickly assess our students' reading and math skills. (Just like a regular check-up, the AIMSweb universal screeners (tests) provide a quick and accurate indicator of how well a student is doing with their critical reading and math skills.
Our Buffalo Stampede Fundraiser is Going On Now!
We kicked off our NEW Buffalo Stampede Fun Run fundraiser on Friday!
Our goal is to raise $60,000 OR MORE for school improvements and teacher support by our fun run on Tuesday, September 20. We are so excited about this NEW fundraiser because not only do we get to keep approximately 95% of the money raised within our school BUT we will also get to promote health, physical fitness and a sense of community within Centennial!
Our school has always relied on fundraising to provide an excellent educational experience for all our students. This will be our PRIMARY fundraiser this year and we need your help to make it successful! As a family you can give, share your student’s fundraising profile with others, or both!
If this is not the right time for you to financially give, we completely understand. Sharing about our fundraiser online IS supporting. We even have incentives and prizes for REGISTERING! You can purchase a SHOUT OUT SIGN on Centennialpto.org's store to cheer your student on at the run! These will be decorated by you and placed around the track by us on the day of our fun run. Please also check our school’s facebook or instagram page for more information. Thank you for your support of our amazing school!
With kind regards and appreciation for you!
Ellie Webb, Principal
