What is going on?

Writing: We will continue our How-To unit with another fun activity this week: S’mores! The kids will get to experience making S’mores in the classroom and then describing the steps taken in a How-To writing piece.

Spelling Words and Grammar: carry, fat, hear, morning, round, run, third, yellow

This week we will focus on skills to help with multiple choice questions on tests.

Reading: We will learn the features of biographies and use those features to learn more about the contributions of certain individuals to our communities and even the world.

Math: We will begin a new unit on fractional parts! Students will learn to recognize and describe objects partitioned into halves, fourths, and eighths through various activities, problems, and concrete models.

Science: For the next two weeks, students will identify the basic needs of plants while observing, recording, and comparing how the physical characteristics of plants help them meet those basic needs. They will discover the parts of plants with some hands on experiments.
