Happy 100th Day of School!
Earlier this week, we celebrated our 100th Day of School! As you can see, our kindergarteners were particularly excited about it and couldn't wait to get dressed up and tell you all about it!
Jump Rope for Heart!
This week, LMES students, parents and staff got together under the guidance of Mrs. McVerry to raise money for the American Heart Association, which is a cause that is very near and dear to our heart here at LMES!
What's The Matter?
Second graders have been exploring changing states of matter as well as chemical and physical changes to better understand how matter takes up space in different ways! Here are some super pictures of students engaged in these science experiments!
Do You Hear What I Hear?
Fifth graders have been working hard in science to understand the ear, hearing, and how sound waves work. To show what they know, students worked in groups on projects including a model of an ear, posters and presentations!
Remember Your Sneakers!
With the arrival of snowy weather, many students have been remembering to wear their boots but forgetting to bring their sneakers for gym. While boots are necessary for getting to school and for recess, they are not always safe for walking inside the building and students are not allowed to participate in PE class if they do not have the proper footwear (sneakers). Please have students bring in their sneakers, especially on gym days, thank you!
A Living Number Line
Many of us have used number lines, either back in school or when we use a ruler to measure something, but how many of us have created a living number line to better demonstrate place value and develop a deeper understanding of how numbers work together? Here are a group of LMES students learning math by moving around and "living" the number line! Research says that it is activities like this that help students to develop meaningful and lasting understanding of math concepts.
