Noel's Amphipod

Gammarus desperatus

The Gammarus desperatus, aka, "Noel's Amphipod," is a crustacean that is sadly no longer in our oceans today.

Noel's Amphipod was most commonly found off the coast of Mexico, clinging to the mossy ocean floor.

The last of these shrimp-like creatures were wiped out by ground-water pumping happening in the Pecos River. They became extinct in 1996.
