Happy Spring Break! As you know, our Fun Run was scheduled for today but with our Virtual Learning today, we have to reschedule. No worries, our Fun Run will be on Monday, March 21st. Weather permitting, we will have our Run outside, if the weather is less than desirable we will have our Fun Run inside in the school gym. If our races are outside, you are all welcome to come cheer on your kiddos and enjoy the day with us! If the Fun Run is indoors, however, only our parent volunteers who signed up will be able to join us. Pledging will be open until March 21st at midnight. You may continue to fundraise all break long and keep an eye on the FaceBook page for updates and maybe some goofy videos from the Apex Team!

We had over 20 families complete the Bingo challenge! Great work making some commitments as a family and setting goals!

Children who have turned five years of age before August 1, 2022, are eligible for kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year and are invited to our Kindergarten Kickoffs in our elementaries on Tuesday, March 29. Families are encouraged to view the attendance area boundary map linked here on the District website, or call the District office at 816-858-5420 for confirmation of attendance area. If you know of a family with a child entering kindergarten, please pass this information along, and if your family has an incoming kindergartner, please complete the following form. We will send you additional information about Kindergarten Kickoff and an enrollment packet.

Thursday was not too "Springlike" for us to take our Spring pictures. Due to the cancellation of school we have rescheduled Spring pictures to Thursday, April 14th. Moving back our Spring pictures and class pictures we will allow parents to continue to send in money for class pictures until April 14th.

We are bringing back our Girls On The Run club for girls in grades 3rd and 4tht grade. Mrs. Courtney (4th grade teacher) Mrs. Schultz (4th grade teacher), and Ms. Franklin (2nd grade teacher) will be our coaches this season. Practices will begin March 28th and practices will be on Mondays and Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:15. Parents of students currently in grades K-7 interested in K-8 Summer School: You can now enroll for 2022 Summer School via the e-Forms on Parent Portal. Please complete by April 8, 2022.

Summer School will be held in June 1-28, 2022, at the following locations:

• Pathfinder Elementary: Kindergarten – 5th grade (K-5 students from Pathfinder and Barry attendance areas)
• Compass Elementary: Kindergarten – 5th grade (students from Siegrist and Compass attendance areas)
• Barry School: 6th grade – 8th grade (students from Barry School attendance areas)
• Platte City Middle School: 6th grade – 8th grade (students from PCMS attendance areas)
• Platte County High School Paxton Center: 9th grade – 12th grade (PCHS students)

*Incoming Kindergarten students should complete summer school registration forms when completing their regular school year enrollment paperwork (Kindergarten Kickoffs will be held March 29).

**Information about enrolling in the High School summer school program will be available in April.

The Board approved the academic calendar for the 2022-23 school year, as suggested by teachers, support staff, parents and board members on the calendar committee, and taking into consideration feedback during public review. The first day of school will be Tuesday, August 23, 2022, and the last day of school is planned for Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Other important dates include: Winter Break begins with a 3-hour early dismissal on December 21, 2022 and runs through January 3, 2023; Spring Break is March 20-24, 2023; and in addition to makeup days at the end of the school year, the calendar identifies February 20 and April as possible make up days, if needed.

The District uses text messaging and automated phone calls to notify parents of upcoming events and days off, school closings due to weather, and during emergency situations. Newly enrolled families will automatically receive an opt-in message from 67587. If you missed it, simply text “Yes” to 67587 to receive text messages.

Hello Pirate Families! At the beginning and middle of each school year, we ask parents and guardians to fill out our Resource Checklist on paper. This year we are asking you to complete the Resource Checklist electronically using this form. This brief questionnaire is your School Social Worker's first and primary way to help you access support services. It also lets us know if you are interested in giving back to your school community. Please do not hesitate to contact your School Social Worker if you have any questions.
