Mrs. Smith's Classroom Newsletter - Week 29
Spring Break is Almost Here!
Just a reminder that we will not have school this Friday, March 25th. Spring Break will start on Monday, March 28th with classes resuming on Monday, April 11th. With two weeks off, the students will have the opportunity to participate in my "Spring Break Challenge". The challenge consists of reading and math for each of the ten school days we will be on break. Students will have a chance to earn double the prizes if they complete both challenges!
Week 29 Learning Targets
Reading - This week we will be exploring our new Scholastic News Magazine. The students will explore current events and complete activities that go along with the engaging articles. At the end of the week, we will touch on some ISTEP Part 2 practice tests.
Writing - We will continue our exploreation of Greek Mythology by researching more on the Greek Gods and Goddesses. Using a visual search engine specifically for kids, www.kiddle.co, students will dive into research on their favorite Greek God, Goddess, or Titan and create a "Fakebook" page profile. Please, do not worry, the students will be creating this project on paper only. No actual profiles will be created online.
Math - Monday we will be learning how to multiply mixed numbers by whole numbers. Tuesday's lesson has us working with division number stories, and for Wednesday's math lesson we will be exploring patterns.
