SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

2019-20 Goals: Goal #1: Data Driven Work. Superintendent Kacer shared how building/dept Continuous Improvement Plans will be monitored and checked at three times throughout the school year to ensure buildings are on track with reaching their goals.

Construction Update: Michael Schmitz, Stahl Construction. As the summer wraps up, many projects are coming to completion. At the baseball and softball fields, crews are doing topsoil work, planting trees, basin dress up, and fixing some fencing. At Johnston Middle School, work will be done this week and is punch-list ready. At the new district office, many things are happening to move the project toward completion at the end of August. This week, electrical, security, carpet, HVAC, ceiling tiles, and cabinetry will all be installed/finished. The board room has a little bit more work to be done before it will be ready; the board room desk will not arrive until early October.

City of Johnston Project Update: Matt Greiner from the City of Johnston gave an update on the work being done around Lawson. Many of the services and work are scheduled to be done or near completion before school starts on the 23rd. He ensured the board that the school would not have any kind of interruption to water or sewer service during school hours.

Once sewer work is complete, they will asphalt the road. Sidewalks will be installed by mid-October, pending favorable weather conditions. A note was made that staff and parents may have to park at City Hall for Meet The Teacher night, as the road in front of Lawson will not be complete and available.
