1. Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was named after U.S. President, Ronald Reagan who was his father's favorite actor, and whom he greatly admired.


2. Cristiano is the youngest child of José Dinis Aveiro and his wife, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro. He was born in Madeira, Portugal on February 5, 1985 making him 30 years old. Happy Birthday!


3. As a young boy Ronaldo had some not-so manly nicknames:

"When he got home from school I'd tell him to do homework but he'd say he didn't have any. I'd be making dinner and he would jump out of the window and run off until late. He used to cry when he passed and his friends didn't score. People called him 'cry-baby' and 'little bee' because nobody could catch him," Dolores Aveiro said.


4. At 15 years old Cristiano was diagnosed with a condition called racing heart. He had an operation that used a laser to cauterize the area of his heart that caused the problem. The operation enabled him to continue his training and love affair with football.

I love the way he play's and also he is a great teacher and learner. He is a great team player and is a good person threw out. I just love the way he play's soocer and I would like to be like him.

Born Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro on February 5, 1985, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, a small island off the western coast of the country, Ronaldo is the youngest of four children born to Maria Dolores dos Santos and Jose Dinis Aveiro. He was named after Ronald Reagan, a favorite actor of his father's.


Ronaldo grew up in a largely working class neighborhood, his home a small tin roofed shack that overlooked the ocean. His early life was shaped by hardship; his father, a gardener, often drank too much, and eventually died from kidney problems in 2005. To help keep the children fed, and maintain some financial stability, Ronaldo's mother worked as a cook and cleaning person.


Ronaldo grew up in working class family. His father was an alcoholic. Later he died from a liver condition disease at the age of 52. This is another picture of Ronaldo with his parents. He was also aggressive. He had once thrown a chair at his teacher. As he mentions the reason that it was due to the fact that the teacher had insulted him.

Though he has a natural talent for the game, it is his hard work and struggle that makes him one of the finest players of the game internationally.

His challenge's

One of his challenges that he had to over come was when his father died. It was hard because after Ronaldo's father died Ronaldo's mom had to work day and night as a cook and a cleaning person for family's for money that everyone needed to eat and for financial reasons. His mother said play soccer because your so good at it. So from that day on he played soccer, but his mother noticed that he didn't play like he always did he played bad because he kept remembering his dad because he always watched. That day Ronaldo's mom said why didn't you play as good as you always did, Ronaldo told his mom the whole thing. Then his mom said that your dad's always watching you in the stands you just can't see him. From that day on he always played good again because he knew his father was still always watching. This is a challenge that he had to overcome because it effected his soccer and actual courier. He had to overcome this and he did to become normal and good at soccer again.

Cristiano Ronaldo has a growth-mindset because...

When he first got to Manchester United he couldn't really kick a ball with to much power and accuracy. So from that day forward he stayed after all his practice and his time off because he knew that he could improve. Also when he moved to Real Madrid he got payed lot and he found out how good he was and he knew that he could improve and be as could as Pele one day and now all because of his growth-mindset he is were he is now.
