MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOTZNY

Dear Parents,

I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about Valentine's Day. We will have a regular school day on February 14th. We will not have any parties, and the students are not allowed to bring any goodie bags, gifts, treats etc. for students. We also do not allow deliveries of any kind for students. (flowers, cookies, lunch) We do ask that every child bring enough valentines for the entire class, and that each student signs his/her name to the valentine. Please do not address the valentines to any student. This helps us distribute the cards. One piece of candy may be attached to each valentine. The students will bring their valentines home to enjoy.

Sincerely,

Heather Motzny

MEDICATION REMINDERS:

The district’s policy on transportation of medication states that ALL medication shall be brought to the clinic by the parent, legal guardian, or other person having legal control of the student and shall be always secured there. This includes any over the counter medications such as cough drops, Neosporin, Cortaid ointments, or canker sore medication, etc. Medications will at no time be transported by a child in or out of the school. Please be advised, the clinic cannot administer any medication not provided to the clinic by the parent, legal guardian, or other persons having legal control of the student. All medications provided to the clinic must come in its original container, unopened and unexpired. All medications must be FDA approved for acceptance by the Nurse. No herbal formulations (including Ricola cough drop brand) or vitamins will be accepted. If more than a children’s dosage is requested, for example an adult dosage of Advil, a signed MD note must be provided along with the medication. Epi Pens will not be accepted without a corresponding MD signed Emergency Plan.

All prescription medications must be accompanied by a signed physician’s letter, stating name of medication, form of medication to be given, dosage, how often/and at what time it needs to be given, and common side effects. Prescription medication must have the pharmacy label on it with the doctor’s written directions to how to administer and specifically stating a time to be given such as, Mid-day, on or around noon, or at 1:30 etc. If you are planning to leave prescription medication in the clinic that needs to be given multiple times to your child within each school day, the signed physician’s letter MUST also clearly state the exact time the medication dosages can be given apart.
