Swenson's Weekly Scoop

Highlights from December 1st - December 5th

What have we been up to?

We have been busy learning about cause and effect in reading. We read The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash, watched cartoon shorts, and are currently working on stop motion videos to show our understanding of cause and effect (see below). In math, we are finishing up our work with Mean, Median, and Mode and will be moving on to Fractions. We finished up another science rotation with Mrs. Johnson and have started learning about the SE region with Mr. Schmidtbauer.

Cause and Effect Stop Motion Videos

In reading, we have been learning about cause and effect. We will be showing our knowledge of this skill by producing stop motion videos. If you are unfamiliar with what a stop motion video is, click on the link below to view an example made by a student. Everyone is excited about completing these videos. We should have them complete by the end of the week. Stay tuned...

Endangered Animal Project

We just finished up our project on endangered animals. Students were asked to pick an animal that is endangered and research it. Along with the research, they were asked to blog and create an iMovie on their animal. They did a great job with this project! To view our students' blogs and videos, click on the link below.

Christmas Service Project

Our classroom, along with Mr. Baumann's and Mrs. Johnson's, will be working together on a Christmas service project. We have decided to forgo buying each other Christmas gifts and instead help children in need. A letter came home today (December 8th) explaining the project. We are asking that families donate if they are able. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you for helping us with this project.
