Ladd Acres Astros #4

EMPOWER! Every student ... Every day!

Welcome to November at Ladd Acres!

Dear Astro Families,

This is a short month, filled with many partial weeks. We have many events and happenings this month that are noted in this newsletter. We hope that you are able to participate and join us at we strengthen our community.

In October, we celebrated the fundraising from our Laps for Ladd. On behalf of our staff and students - THANK YOU for your donation to our school. We raised over $30,000, the largest amount ever raised. The money will go support our student's success with supplies, a STEM/garden teacher, technology and so much more. An extra special thank you to our PTA for organizing the fun run. We are humbled and grateful.

Warm regards,

Francesca Sinapi

Principal, Ladd Acres Elementary

State report cards began fifteen years ago when the 1999 Oregon Legislature passed a law requiring every public school and district to receive a report from the Oregon Department of Education about how they are performing overall. Our school ratings are now available in our Report Card Rating Detail Sheet at the link below.

School and district report cards for the 2016-17 school year are available at:http://www.ode.state.or.us/data/reportcard/reports.aspx. (Select Hillsboro in the District Selection drop-down menu).

We had our second Family group at Ladd Acres. We were able to meet on Oct. 31st where we took pictures and continued building relationships. Pictures will be on display in the main hallway bulletin board. When you are in the building for Parent Teacher Conferences, please be sure to stop by and check it out.

District and School Policy on Homework

Homework is given to students to aid in their intellectual development and to develop independent study habits. Students who do not complete assignments at school may have to complete them at home. If possible, assignments before school vacations and weekends will be avoided.

The following time chart is a suggested guide for most students Monday-Thursday:

Kinder 10-15 minutes each day

1-2-3 15-30 minutes each day

4-5-6 30-45 minutes each day

At Ladd Acres, homework in many classrooms involves reading at home. The link below will help you work with your student at home by asking questions while your child is reading.

ATTENDANCE: 9 or Less is Best!

Every moment your student is in school is an opportunity for success. Strive for less than 9 absences per year to ensure college readiness and preparation for success! Please note that vacations are unexcused absence. If possible, please try to do vacations on non-school days.
