FCCA Weekly Update
Fulton College and Career Academy
October 24, 2022 - October 28, 2022
Principal's Notes
Happy Monday Students and Parents.
Today is the last day of October. It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of our first trimester course. Over the next three days, our students will be working with students to ensure all work has been submitted. We will be transitioning to our 2nd course on Thursday, 11/3/2022.
We have rescheduled our Virtual Parent meeting to Tuesday, Nov. 8th at 6:30 pm. Many of our staff are scheduled to attend a district event tomorrow night and would not be able to join the parent meeting. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Please plan to attend next Tuesday so that we can update you with important information related to the end of Trimester I and the beginning of Trimester II. Here is the link to join the meeting.
Virtual Parent Meeting - Nov. 8th at 6:30 pm
We look forward to “seeing” you on Tuesday, Nov. 1st.
As a reminder – November 8th is a Remote Learning Day. Students will not attend school on this day.
Please scroll through this week’s Smore to see photos of both these events!
This Week's Happenings at FCCA!
Fulton Connect
Fulton Connect Session III - It's On in the Kitchen!
During the month of October, FCCA's Culinary Arts pathway, in collaboration with the Georgia Restaurant Association and the Fulton Education Foundation, hosted "Fulton Connect". Fulton Connect is a bootcamp style program provided students a great opportunity to get hands on training from experienced chefs.
During the three Saturday sessions, students were trained in Servsafe, knife skills, cooking methods, and baking and pastry. During the third session, students had the awesome opportunity to demonstrate the skills they learned through this program by participating in a pastry bake-off. Students were amazed at the skills this program presented them. Many had several "ah-ha" moments as they connected the dots of what they are learning in their Culinary Arts pathway to what world-renown chefs demonstrated during their presentations.
As a final finale, students will visit a five start restaurant to further their learning experience. FCCA is very appreciative of the opportunity to work with this initiative and can see first-hand the benefits it has on students. Students were very proud of what they learned and were amazed at their beautiful and delicious creations.
Thank you Georgia Restaurant Association and Fulton Education Foundation for sponsoring this wonderful opportunity!
FCCA's Awareness Month Stroll & Balloon Release --- Bringing Awareness to Breast Cancer, Bullying, Suicide, and Drug Abuse!
As a cumulating activity, students participated in an Awareness Stoll. Lead by the drumline of Banneker High School, students strolled through the halls of FCCA and into the outside, where they released balloons for a cause for which they could relate (pink - breast cancer; blue - bullying; yellow - suicide; and red for drug awareness). Students were very appreciative of the opportunity to learn prevalent issues plaguing our community and thoroughly enjoyed the stroll, drumline and the balloon release!

Pink-Out Day at FCCA - FCCA Supports Breast Cancer Awareness
And the Winner is..............................Skylar Milligan!
Breast Cancer Awareness
And the Runner-Up Is........Ben Samura!
Though competition was very fierce for this competition, FCCA Teaching As Profession student, Skylar Milligan, emerged as our winner! As you can see, Ms. Daniel, in her pink hair and tutu, and Digital Media student, Ben Samura, in his many pink items, gave Skylar a run for her money, but in all "pinkness", she won!
Congratulations everyone for participating in this event. We appreciate your energy for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Student Expectations:
Dress Code expectations are that our students come to CCA prepared for opportunity to knock. That means our students are ready to collaborate with industry professionals on any given day. Please ensure your students are dressed appropriately. We expect all Academy students to model the tenants of PCCLI (Professionalism, Character, Collaboration, Leadership, Innovation) in their behavior and dress code.
Early Dismissal/Late Arrival:
- Students who arrive on campus after the start of the class must check in through the front office where they will be given a late pass to class.
- Any student who will be picked up from CCA prior to the end of the class must be checked out through the front office. A parent/guardian listed in Infinite Campus must come into the CCA and check their student out before the student will be released.
- Students should not request any type of rideshare (Uber/Lyft, etc.) to leave campus.
Transportation to and from CCA:
- To keep all students safe, it is imperative that our students enter the building as soon as they are dropped off.
- Students are not allowed to leave campus for any reason without being checked out in the front office by a parent/guardian. Any student who wishes to drive to the Academy must apply for a parking pass. Once approved, the student will be issued a parking pass that should be visible from the windshield of their car.
- If you and your student have not completed the parking pass application and you wish to have them drive to our campus, please download the parking pass form, complete it, and have your student return it to us. Students are NOT allowed to ride with other students.
- AM Wave start time is 9:00.
- PM Wave start time is 12:30.
- Students should be in class prior to the start time.

We also utilize the FCS School App to send out communications, as well as what the district sends out. This app allows you to have a one-stop place for all FCS messages, links to important FCS information, such as Here Comes the Bus, school closures, as well as ones from individual schools. This app is available for both iOS and Android.
Thank you for partnering with us and we are looking forward to another great week at CCA.
