SPS Wellness Plan
How Will This Plan Promote the Health Goals of Healthy People 2020?
By limiting the amount of fat, sugar, calories and sodium in the food served at schools, students will be able to make healthier choices.
Food options like chips and cookies sold in the cafeteria will also be changed to whole grain to ensure students are making healthy choices.
Guidelines also state that one way food can be approved is by having it's first ingredient being a fruit or vegetable.
One guideline states that forms of exercise like recess and physical education cannot be taken away as a punishment. This gives students the opportunity to get outside and be active each day.
Along with the students, the staff members should also have the opportunity to be physically active. This can be accomplished by following one of the guidelines of the SPS Wellness Plan and creating activities for the staff to be active.
