VRE Garden of the Stars

2nd grade harvested radish from the garden last week and were able to sample it! Remember that you can help water our garden this summer to help our plants stay alive and healthy. :)

PBL

My Very Own PBL:


  • Driving Question: Learners will come up with their own driving question
  • Learners presented their PBL! We loved seeing the creative presentations and the research they found!

English Language Arts & Reading

Second graders will be learning about...

· Read aloud: Review Comprehension Skills

· Writing: My Very Own PBL

· Grammar: Grammar Talks

· Spelling: Sight Words, High Frequency Words, & Suffixes

Math

Second graders will be visualizing fractions and deciding how to divide things into equal parts to one eighth.

Science

2nd grade scientists are exploring which materials build a stable system. They will learn how to combine materials that when put together can do things that they cannot do by themselves, such as building a tower

a bridge and justify the selection of those materials based on their physical properties.

Social Studies

Second graders will be learning about...


  • Reviewing Geography, Landforms, Map Building, Climate, Agriculture, Symbols, Traditions, and Government as they begin the Create My Own Country project!
  • Learners are presenting their countries!
