Clarkston Elementary PTO Newsletter
Once again, Clarkston Elementary stood proud to honor and thank the veterans in our lives at our Veteran’s Day Assembly. Thank you CE families for honoring the commitment that our Armed Forces make toward protecting our freedoms, and a special thank you to Jen Brykailo and Jeanette Early who led the organization of the event. We are grateful to know so many heroes, and to have had them with us on this important day.
Information about SOAR grading system can be learned through video links on the Clarkston Elementary and Clarkston District websites.

Donuts with Dad proved another large crowd in 2015. Kelly Carter volunteered her time and efforts to be sure that all of the dads had delicious donuts and coffee to start their day. Thank you Kelly, and to all that made the early morning venture!
In the fall, Krista Miller and Erica Stochowiak headed up efforts to keep the Clarkston Elementary staff fed during their busy conference schedules. Teachers and staff enjoyed gourmet salads and breadsticks. Thank you to Krista and Erika for being great hostesses.
Disability Awareness is a day that gives our students the opportunity to learn about the challenges that our disabled population faces, to celebrate the ways that these challenges are overcome, and to exercise student’s compassion. For countless years, Kristy Ottman has devoted her time in the organization and hosting of this event without hitch, and for years our students have become better people for it. Thank you to Kristy, and to all of the volunteers that were wrangled up to make it another great day.
The student body spoke, and they said, “Minions”! We had a great turnout for movie night and the cafeteria proved to be almost as cozy as our own living rooms! Thank you to all who attended.
Two things that everyone loves: Muffins and moms – and a great turnout proved it to be true at our annual Muffins with Moms morning event. A special thank you to dad, Paul Giampetroni, who made sure that the moms were well taken care of and that coffee was close at hand!
Mike Daly, CE’s unofficial photographer has been catching great shots of happy students and families for a few years now. Please, when you see Mike at our next event, capturing the fun on film, extend him a thank you! His photos are amazing, and we’ve been able to preserve so many good memories thanks to his generosity and talent. Thanks Mike!
BUSINESS HIGHLIGHT:

Champs Cleaners generously donates their services to us. The CE PTO has a number of linens that are used during events such as conference dinners and Donuts with Dads. We are lucky enough to have help keeping things clean and fresh thanks to Champs. Please be mindful of the generosity of companies such as Champs when considering your own family’s needs. Champs has been great to our CE Family!
Great News!
Generous Fun Run donations, as well as additional donations made by the PTO are allowing us to make some incredible updates and additions to the Computer Lab. We will be purchasing 30 Chrome Books that will be utilized as stationary computers in the computer lab. A face lift, including fresh paint, new carpeting, art pieces, a second much-needed white board, and a variety of interactive works spaces will also be given to the CE Computer Lab. Everyone is very excited about the awesome things happening, and we move forward knowing first and foremost that it couldn’t be done without the generosity and teamwork that Clarkston Elementary families have contributed.
It is impossible to mention the Fun Run without throwing loads of kudos to Corrina Brigham. Corrina is our Fun Run chairperson and not one bit of the fundraising and FUN! would have been possible without her planning, implementing, and motivation. Lucky for us, Corrina also holds the responsibility of chairing our year-end Field Day celebration. If you are interested in being a part of the day, please contact her for ways to help. Thank you Corrina for all that you do, and for all you have done to help raise money for the exciting changes to our CE Computer Lab.
