Monthly Phoenix February

Obed Morales, Principal

Happy Women's Month

We hope this finds you well. We are glad to be back from a well needed vacation. We have already passed the 100th day of school. We are well off into the middle of the school year with only less than 80 days left.

As of February of 2022, All students have been assessed for a mid of year data point. We used this data school-wide to inform instruction and to guide our decisions around best practices for our students. We have seen lots of growth in different pockets of the school and we want to take this opportunity to celebrate the many awesome things happening.

In the month of March, you may hear your children come home and engage in conversations around MCAS. As many of you already know, MCAS is a standardized test typically given in the months of April and May in both English Language Arts and Math. At this point in time of the year teachers are embedding study skills, test taking skills and a variety of different strategies in supporting your children to set them up for success. Please be on the look out for more information around MCAS so that you can support your children so that school and home are in completely alignment when launching this process.

In honor of Women's Month I also want to take this opportunity to celebrate the Women at East! It is important to me to honor all of you and uplift all of our women in our community. As the Assistant Principal at East, I am humbled to work alongside such strong and powerful women.
