In reviewing planbooks, I noticed lots of work with "stop and jot" which is a great strategy to support our students in monitoring their comprehension and processing one's thoughts. Another great tool to add to your "toolbox" is the interactive bookmark. Listed below are some links for you to peruse and certainly consider adapting to individual grade level/unit, etc. Enjoy!
