Ms. Chandler's Counseling Corner
Autism Awareness Month - April 2021
Dear Families,
April is all about Autism Awareness. I will be spreading some love and awareness within this newsletter, as well as sharing some Toolbox information. On March 25th, the three elementary school counselors did a second Toolbox parent support night presentation. That presentation was posted to Class Dojo on March 29th. Remember, Toolbox is being taught in K-2nd grade. Because the older grades don't have access to these tools, it is important that we remind them of these tools that we have within ourselves.
Social-Emotional Learning is for you as much as for your students; a time to take a deep breath, find balance, and then help your students find theirs.
Thanks for all that you do.
What is it?
We All Fit In
Acceptance...
Lastly, it is important to remember that SEL begins with us.

Garbage Can Tool AND Listening Tool
Garbage Can Tool: Sometimes the best choice is to throw harmful words away. Sometimes we need to listen more carefully to what is behind the words.
Listening Tool: Listening with one's heart is the key to strong relationship and conflict resolution, bringing us to empathy.
