Congratulations

Congratulations to Delana Drysdale and Shelly Sartin! Delana Drysdale, our wonderful Pre-K teacher, was selected by her peers as the BES Teacher of the Year. Shelly Sartin, our amazing front office guru, was selected by her peers as the BES Paraprofessional of the Year. Both Delana and Shelly are a gift to our students, staff, and families!

BES Experience

Join us on Thursday evening, March 2, 2017 to experience BES at our annual open house. This event gives guest the opportunity for a glimpse into a day in the life of a BES Texan. Classrooms will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the book fair open from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing each of you on Thursday night!

Dr. Schroeder Grant

The power of the written word by one of our incredible Texans has earned Mrs. Vise $1,000 to spend in her classroom. Second grader Claire Bundy used her effective communicating skills and wrote an essay sharing how her classroom could use $1,000 for new seating, a 3-D printer, and coding materials. Thanks to a generous grant from Dr. Schroeder in collaboration with the GCISD Education Foundation, Claire and Mrs. Vise were awarded the grant this week!

4th Grade Rock 'n' Rolled Through The Ages!

Read Across America Week

Thursday, March 2 is designated Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday. Rather than contain the joy of reading to one day, this week at Bransford, we will celebrate the joy of reading! Our celebrations include in class activities, our spring book fair in the library and special dress up days (see below). Thank you for all you do to share the fun and excitement of reading with our Texans!

  • Monday: Fox In Socks Day ~ Wear crazy socks!
  • Tuesday: Green Eggs and Ham ~ Wear green!
  • Wednesday: Oh the Places You'll Go ~ Wear your favorite college shirt!
  • Thursday: Cat in the Hat Day ~ Wear your favorite hat!
  • Friday: One FIsh, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish ~ Wear red and blue!

Destination Imagination

Congratulations to our Destination Imagination teams who competed this weekend! All four teams had a great day at DI! The teams have worked together since October to prepare for the competition.

Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who coached our Texans! A big thank you to Ann Marie Scott for serving as our DI coordinator! Kudos to Melissa Cooper for serving as an appraiser and for Mrs. Mcenery for stopping by and seeing the kids.

Forget-Me-Not Table

Thank you for helping us minimize disruptions to the classroom by placing materials on the forget-me-not table when your student leaves something at home. Shelly and Denise will call down to the classroom at the appropriate time for your student to retrieve the items. Thank you for not bringing the items to the classroom.

Spring has Sprung?!?!

The Bransford Garden Club will begin our spring meetings on Wednesday March 1st at 7 am. This spring we will continue to learn more about growing our own vegetables by planting, caring for, and harvesting green beans and squash. We will also learn about the importance of bees and other flying insects with our butterfly garden. We look forward to seeing all of our little gardeners the first Wednesday of each month at 7 am: 3/1, 4/5, and 5/3.

If you as a family or Bransford organization would like to help with the garden, but can not make our meetings, you still can! We welcome your help by watering and weeding our garden on the weekend. Here is the sign up genius for the spring: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c054baaa922aa8-garden
