The cherokee indians decided to settle in the great plains for the abundance of resources such as:buffalo, fertile land for crops, and easy access to water.

The Cherokees were quick to adapt many material elements of European culture to their own society, that led to their designation as one of the five civilized tribes.

The cherokee indians were the origional residents of the american southeast region. particually georgia, north and south carolina, virginia, kentucky and tennesee.


The Cherokees forced north of the Red River were reunited with some 6,000 Cherokees already settled in the northeastern corner of Indian Territory.

The plains indians used the land for growing crops and grazing wild life to hunt.

The Cherokee Indians lived in settled villages, usually located near a river. Cherokee houses were made of rivercane and plaster, with thatched roofs.


Clothes- Cherokee men wore breechcloths and leggings. Cherokee women wore wraparound skirts and poncho-style blouses made out of woven fiber or deerskin.


Protection-Cherokee hunters used bows and arrows or blowguns to shoot game. Fishermen generally used spears and fishing poles.

The plains indians hunted buffalo use all of the buffalo for food, clothing, and weponds

Trail of Tears was the Cherokee name for what the Americans called indian revmovle . During the 1800's, the US government created an "Indian Territory" in Oklahoma and sent all the eastern Native American tribes to live there.
