3rd Grade Happenings
- Parent/Teacher Conferences begin on October 2nd. Don't forget to sign up for a spot with your child's teacher!
- Our first book fair is October 2-6.
- 3rd grade goes to the library every Thursday! Please remind your child to bring their books to school with them that day so they can check out new books!
- Don't forget to have your child wear their new SRE spirit shirt on Mondays!

What We've Been Learning!
Readers Workshop
-Know and understand what a fluent reader sounds like.
-Use punctuation to read with fluency.
-Understand the author's purpose for writing a text.
-Can support their predictions with evidence from the text.
-Make connections to the texts they read.
-Use their schema (background knowledge) to help them understand the texts they read.
-Know what to do when they get confused and don't know a word.
Writers Workshop
-Know what their job is during a writing conference.
-Understand and use the habits of good writers.
-Use great leads and great endings to improve their writing.
-Use sensory details to make their writing more interesting for the reader.
Social Studies
-Understand how to figure out their location by using a grid map.
-Know that grid coordinates, legends, and scales help them read a map.
-Know the different parts of a map and what their purposes are.
Math
-Use strategies when multiplying by 10.
-Use the relationship of the 10s facts to determine the 5s multiplication facts.
-Use strategies to solve 5s and 10s multiplication facts.
-Identify the attributes of prisms & pyramids.
