Hello GES Parents,

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of the first semester, and it is SO exciting to see the progress and academic growth of our students. The teachers are working diligently on student Progress Reports and they will be coming out on Friday, January 29, for Grades 1 -5. We are looking forward to another successful semester of learning at GES!

Our first group of 5th grade students had a wonderful time skiing this past week up at Crested Butte Mountain. Also, we have been able to work with the Gunnison Rec Center to have swimming lessons for our 1st and 2nd grade students over the next 12 weeks. We are so thankful that we are able to partner with local organizations to safely provide these opportunities to GES students.

With the cold Gunnison winter months upon us, it is important that we are all safe and warm. I would like to remind everyone to be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Additionally, if you bring your child to school in the morning, please do not drop them off before 8:15am as we do not have staff available to supervise children before that time. The entry bell rings at 8:15am and we let students in the building and begin our morning breakfast and routines at this time. Our classes begin at 8:30am. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping everyone safe this winter.

Have a restful weekend and we will see everyone on Monday, January 18th. Thank you for your continued support of our students and school!

Kind Regards,

Mr. Michael Seefried, Principal

Happy Friday Families! “Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses.” – Alphonse Karr

There has been a lot of worrisome news out there and as I have paused and reflected on everything around me I remembered a fantastic resource that Mrs. Kowal shared a while back: The Good Good Good news; and you can find it here! There is a free weekly newsletter, a pay-for print edition, and even a podcast! I also discovered they have an instagram account where they share good news everyday. Let’s focus on the good and reframing to find the positive!

With Gratitude, Mrs. Kane & Mrs. Yow
