Music Mentors of Pomona Valley

The Music Mentors of Pomona Valley is a student led and run organization, in partnership with Uncommon Good, that connects college volunteers with low-income children in the Pomona Valley area for free music lessons. Mentors usually meet with mentees for about one hour a week, and there are opportunities throughout the year for students to demonstrate their skills, such as at our Annual Spring Recital.

Interested in becoming a mentor?

We are always in need of passionate, motivated music mentors. No prior music teaching experience is required. Some instruments that we have offered in the past include piano, violin, viola, cello, percussion, flute, clarinet, alto sax, and trumpet. If your instrument is not on the list, we would love for you to join as well! The time commitment is about one hour a week at a time and location that is convenient for you, and most mentors meet with their students on campus.
