If at any time you have questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher, call the office or email me - lisa.muirbrook@nebo.edu
Read Across America Day/Dr. Seuss Birthday: Wednesday, March 2 (TOMORROW) is National Read Across America Day. This is a day to celebrate the privilege of being able to read. It is also Dr. Seuss' birthday. We want to celebrate this great day! All students are invited to dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character or book character. Many teachers are planning fun activities throughout the day to celebrate reading. The Cat in The Hat just might make an appearance in each class and deliver a little prize for each student. :) We will end the school day by having a read-a-thon from 2:25-2:55 in the hallways of the school. Just imagine all Art City students and staff lining our hallways reading together!
PTA Meeting: Thursday, March 3 at 10:00 is the next PTA meeting. All are invited to attend. The meeting will be held at Art City.
Specialty classes do a lot of integration and have great learning opportunities for our students. Check out what they are doing this week.
PE this week: TK-2 Fitness Activity - Four Corner Animal Walks. Lesson Focus - Individual jump ropes. Game - Colors. 3rd-5th Fitness Activity - Squad Leader Exercises. Lesson Focus - Individual jump ropes. Game - Shuttle Relays or Relay Contest.
Music this week: K-5th Learn about Timbre, play sound bingo.
Computers this week: 1-4th grade classes will practice their coding skills using Kodable or Code.org. 5th grade students will continue editing their short films. Also, if your student brought home a Doodle for Google form last week and you would like Mrs. Farr to mail it for you, please send it to school with your student by Wednesday, March 2nd.
Library this week: The younger grades will find out if library mouse really does live in our library. If he does, they will get to make and take their very own book. They will discover that everyone is an author and can tell a great story. The older grades will do a readers theater on the Wright Brothers. They will also discover who actually pushed Humpty Dumpty off the wall as they act out a fun mystery.
Cold/Inclement Weather
Students will be expected to go outside at recess and lunch time unless the air quality is dangerous, the temperature is below 20 degrees or if it is raining or snowing heavily. If you wish for your child to stay indoors, please send a note with them and specify a reasonable time period for them to stay indoors. Being outdoors and having the opportunity to run and play is a much needed and healthy time of the school day.
