Leader In Me: Habits At Home
How well do you and your student know the habits? Habit number 3, put first things first, means practicing personal management. Think about where you spend the most time during your day. Are you spending too much time working? Too much time filling your bucket? It’s important to have a balance between the two in order to ensure what needs to get done is completed. Talk about specific parts of your daily routine and how to organize your day in order to make that happen.
Please RSVP by 2/19/24 even if your child is participating in our Living Museum.
Referendum 2024: First Volunteer Meeting - Please Join Us!
As Superintendent Burrows shared earlier this week, the next Appoquinimink School District referendum will take place on Tuesday, April 23.
There’s simply too much at stake if this effort does not succeed.
Now more than ever, volunteers will be needed! The first volunteer meeting to prepare for this next referendum will take place on Wednesday, February 21, at 6 p.m. The meeting is slated to take place at A.G. Waters Middle School in the cafeteria.
All families, staff, and community members are welcome and encouraged to join the volunteer group. If you plan to attend the meeting on February 21 at 6 p.m. PLEASE RSVP HERE BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16. We are asking all who plan to attend to RSVP to ensure we have enough space and parking. If we determine that we need a larger meeting space, we will make sure to share the updated location with everyone.
Thank you for your help to ensure this is successful!

NAEP Testing for Some of Our 4th Grade Students
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) also known as the Nation’s Report Card, will be coming to Silver Lake Elementary to test a pre-selected number of 4th grade students on math and ELA. The results of this test provide educators, policy makers, elected officials, and parents across the country with invaluable information regarding how our children are doing compared to other children in large urban districts, other states, and the nation. When our children participate in NAEP, they are helping to inform decisions about how to improve education in our state and in our country. The results of the NAEP assessment often match how students perform on the Smarter Balanced Assessment as well. The test will be on February 15, 2024. If your child has been selected to participate, you will receive notification in your child's take home folder this week. For more information, please visit the NAEP site here.
Valentines' Day Information
Valentine's Day is here and we welcome families to send in cards or anything else (non-edible) your child would like to distribute to their friends. We do have quite a few food allergies/sensitives in our school so we ask that you not send in any food or candy. Any food/candy items will not be distributed. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.
