Raising a Self, Not A Selfie - The Mighty Me Project
Presented by Cheryl Jones
Ever-increasing expectations and inescapable social media magnify the internal pressures that children experience every day. The development of self-awareness and emotional problem-solving skills are essential for children to successfully navigate their complex lives. Building these capacities in childhood enhances lifelong identify and the opportunity for optimal academic achievement.Children count on their parents to help them interpret reality and develop perspectives. This happens best through comfortable and honest discussions about life experiences. The Mighty Me Project provides parents with a series of specific interations that are easily incorporated into daily life. These simple strategies strengthen the parent-child connection, expand self-awareness and create tools for emotional problem-solving.
Parent workshops are scheduled in conjunction with PTA meetings at each elementary school, with an open invitation for parents to attend the session of their choice. Follow Up Sessions (Part 2) will be scheduled in Winter/Spring 2018.
Please see the attached flyer for specific dates and times!

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit 1 – Be Proactive – “I’m in Charge of Me”
What this means: Take charge of your own life. Make it happen. Don't wait for someone else to do it.
“I am responsible for me.”
“I do the right thing before I am asked.”
“I do the right thing even when no one is looking.”
“I do not blame others for my actions.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. If you do something wrong, say you are sorry before someone asks you to apologize.
2. When you get mad and want to say something, stop, think, and ask yourself-
Why am I getting so angry? Make a good choice in a good way.
