Happenings In Panther Nation - June 2019
The majority of my time is spent in meetings or conversations with people. The topics discussed vary widely, and the purpose can range from purely informational to solving a major issue. These meetings seem to eat up my time, but they are necessary as we continue on our journey.
After these meetings, I typically spend time reflecting on the conversation, the interaction, the feedback I received, and the overall perceived success of the meeting. I tend to overanalyze things and spend an excessive amount of time reflecting. And even though I appear confident, if I’m not careful, I will worry about every little thing during these meetings and bring myself to the point of doubt.
I feel that we all deal with this type of process, and if we are not careful, these moments of doubt can become defining moments. If we string enough of these defining moments together, then we begin to think, act, and respond in this manner. It is very easy for us to become what we think, so it is crucial that we work to control our thoughts.
I believe that our journey together on The Energy Bus will help us in creating and developing the right defining moments. The principles covered in the book seem simple but are very profound. They help to guide us towards the positive things that are happening in our personal lives and in our jobs instead of focusing on all the challenges.
As I have thought about my reflection process, I have been able to apply the first principle taught in The Energy Bus: You Are The Driver Of Your Bus! This principle speaks to taking personal responsibility, not blaming or complaining, but making the necessary changes to get the results I desire. Even though I find it strange that I’m reflecting on my reflection process, I realize that I control which moments are defining moments and it is my responsibility to take control of my thoughts and create and develop my defining moments!
I hope you are gaining insight as you read The Energy Bus. Please feel free to share your thoughts, reflections, or wisdom with me. I would love to hear from you!!
Enjoy your time off and make sure that you focus on you!!
