Class of 2021 Graduation Information
June 1, 2021 Update
To our Benicia High School Class of 2021 Graduates and Families:
The Benicia Unified School District is excited to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of the Senior Class. As previously communicated, Benicia Unified School District and Benicia High School created a multi-tiered plan for graduation that was reviewed and approved by the Solano County Public Health Department.
At noon today, June 1st, Solano County announced that we are moving into the Orange Tier. Based on this information, we have decided to move our graduation ceremony plans for this Saturday to the Orange Tier plan - this means we will have one graduation ceremony for the entire Class of 2021 at 10:00am on Saturday, June 5th. Seniors will still receive 2 tickets each.
If you have any questions, please email BHSInfo@beniciaunified.org. We are very excited about graduation and so glad that this change will allow all of our Seniors to graduate together!
Livestream of Graduation Ceremonies:
Link to Graduation Livestream on June 5th: https://www.youtube.com/c/BeniciaUnifiedSchoolDistrict
This will remain available to view after June 5th for additional viewing.
Mandatory Graduation Practice:
We will hold one graduation practice on Friday, June 4th at 9:00am to prepare for the commencement ceremonies. Seniors will return their textbooks and Chromebooks with chargers as they enter graduation practice.
Seniors with AP tests in June may keep their Chromebooks if needed and return them to the main office during office hours (7:30am to 4:00pm) after completion of their AP exam(s).
Cap & Gown:
In an effort to make sure that every graduate has their cap and gown, a Jostens representative will be on campus on Friday, June 4th from 10:30-11:00am in the upper parking lot (outside of graduation practice) to sell the cap and gown set to anyone in need. The cost is $50 and only cash payments will be accepted.
Graduation Tickets:
Two tickets per graduate will be distributed to the students at graduation practice. Lost or damaged tickets will not be replaced. No one will be allowed entrance to the event without a ticket, including children.
Arrival & Parking:
Gates will open 45 minutes prior to each ceremony and graduates are expected to arrive at that time so that the graduation ceremony can start on time. We encourage graduates and their two family members/ticket holders to arrive together for everyone’s safety and convenience.
Parking will be available in the upper and lower parking lots of Benicia High School. Entrance to the event will be at the front of the stadium only. No parking or entry will be allowed from Mary Farmar Elementary. Disabled parking for those with disabled parking placards will be available in the upper parking lot, closest to the stadium entrance.
COVID-19 health and safety protocols will be in place and enforced during the ceremony. This includes all guests properly wearing face masks and practicing social distancing while entering, seated, and exiting the event.
Graduation Ceremony Pictures:
GradImages will be on site at graduation to take pictures of each graduate as they are announced and as they receive their diploma cover. Families will receive the proof and ordering information by mail two to three weeks after graduation, to the mailing address provided by the graduate.
Seniors must complete THIS FORM to provide their mailing address for the graduation photos and the phonetic spelling of their name to be announced at graduation. (Form requires students to be logged into their BUSD student account.)
Diploma Distribution:
Graduates receive their diploma cover at graduation when their name is announced. After the graduation ceremony has ended, graduates will proceed down to the gym area to pick up their diploma. Only graduates will be permitted into the gym to pick up their diploma, then they will exit to the front of the gym.
Important Dates:
