Stay Connected with Parent Square!

We are excited to announce that our school district has adopted a new form of school-to-home communication called ParentSquare. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with your child’s school and Gwinnett County Public Schools.

ParentSquare provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to receive and send information, such as:

  • Weather-related closings & delays
  • School and class information
  • Share pictures and files
  • See calendar items
  • Upcoming class activities

District and school information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text via ParentSquare. For even more convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices). Please note that some schools and teachers may still use other district-approved tools for the 2023-2024 school year to communicate with their families.

If you received our notification about ParentSquare and you have questions about confirming your account access, please send an email to PSQHelp@gcpsk12.org.

Math

During this week, students learn to fluently add and subtract decimals within relevant, mathematical problems. Students will build on their understanding from elementary school of whole numbers and decimals as they apply numerical reasoning to interpret applicable, mathematical situations in context of a real-world problem.

Don’t forget every Wednesday morning from 8:15am to 8:50am, we hold weekly help session

Math

During Week 7 of 7th Grade Math, we will continue our work in Unit 1B: Making Relevant Connections within the Number System. We are nearing the end of Unit 1B, so we are at our most rigorous moments of teaching and learning. We will be taking what we have learned over the past few weeks regarding multiplication and division of both positive and negative rational numbers (fractions, decimals, and integers- whole numbers) as well as reviewing our knowledge from Unit 1A regarding addition and subtraction of positive and negative rational numbers to work our way through real-world scenario word problems. We will practice our test taking skills and focus on application of our Math basics to come to the proper solutions to the problems. We will also engage in error analysis to determine where we went wrong when we come to an incorrect solution and address any misconceptions students may have. Students will utilize their knowledge of the properties of operations of multiplication: associative property, commutative property, and distributive property to help in coming to their solutions and conducting error analysis. Lastly we will review our learning from Week 6 on how to convert fractions to decimals, decimals to fractions, and either fractions or decimals to percentages. And we will review terminating vs. repeating decimals. This will all lead up to our second Mathematics assessment of Semester 1 of the 2023-2024 school year, Unit 1B Assessment on Thursday, September 14th 2023. We will have a comprehensive review session in our Math classes on Wednesday, September 13th 2023. Do not forget that all subjects hold weekly Help Sessions/Tutoring on Wednesday mornings from 8:15am to 8:50am. This would be a great week for students who are able to attend to do so! On Friday of Week 7, September 15th 2023, we will have our first Digital Learning Day of the school year. Math will utilize this day to post short videos and a brief assignment that will aid in reteaching of the Unit 1B material so that any student who needs to improve their test score from Thursday will be better prepared for either a retest or a credit recovery activity when they return to school the following Monday (Week 8).

Social Studies

The 7th grade Social Studies students are now on Unit 3: Historical Developments of Southwest as we go through this unit the students will analyze continuity and change in Southwest Asia (Middle East).

Medical Authorization

A parent or guardian must bring any / all medications to the school and fill out a medication administration form. Students are not allowed to carry any medications with them at school or on the bus. This includes any over the counter medication, for example; cough drops, Tylenol, etc. If you would like your child to have any OTC medication left in the clinic, you must bring to school with a completed medical authorization form.

To give us authorization to give your student their medication you will need to complete the Medication Authorization Form. You may print it, complete it, and bring it in or you can pick one up to complete in the clinic. A separate form is required for each individual medication.

If your student requires an inhaler and/or an Epi-pen you will need to complete the appropriate form.

For your student to be permitted to carry their inhaler and/or Epi-pen on their person, their physician will need to complete the section of our form advising us of their authorization. If the student will be carrying their inhaler and/or Epi-pen on their person, we ask that you also provide the clinic with a backup in case one is needed.
