Basic Info
Autism is when a person has impaired social interaction, verbal and non verbal communication skills. This is a mental issue. People with Autism have a hard time with having relationships with people.
Characteristics
Symptoms of autism include social and communication impairments, no eye contact, repetitive movement (jumping, spinning, rocking ,hand biting), physical features (small head, brain malformation), mental retardation (low IQ testing). People with autism have a little harder time in their daily life. It's harder for them to communicate with people, if they don't know how their day is going to go the become nervous, and having relationships with people is difficult. Their life expectancy is the same as an euro typical individual because this is not a life threading condition.
Causes
The mutation causing autism is the brain doesn't develops right when the child is inside their mother. Chromosome affected is single-gene alteration. The gene that is mutated is whole Exome sequencing.
Treatment
Their is no cure for autism but there is treatments. Possible treatments are behavior and communication therapies and medicines to control symptoms. You can't get rid of autism but you can try these therapies and medicines.

The meaning of the name autism is it comes from the Greek word "autos" meaning self. This describes the conditions.
