May 28: When Given Lemons, We Delivered Lemonade!
Dear BCS Staff,
We have arrived – thank you for staying steady, consistent and supportive to your students, families and each other at this time. It has been different, challenging and I am proud how we responded and acted in a caring way for our school community.
I also want to recognize and thank all who have shared graduations and material exchange days with students this week. We are also at a transition point as we move into summer learning opportunities and begin to prepare for next school year. Our Child Nutrition Team is wrapping up Curbside Meal Service having provided 220,000 meals, just in time to jump into summer feeding at 4 strategic locations throughout Berkeley County. Summer school and other summer learning opportunities will open soon for our students. Information will be located on our website.
While the pace at keeping you informed and up to date has been blistering, we also recognize a rest is needed. Our summer staff communication will be as needed with periodic updates every 10 to 14 days. I would encourage you to check your K12 email periodically for information about upcoming professional learning and development posted to our website that may be helpful to you and your career with BCS, as well as updates on instruction for the 20-21 school year.
I want to take the opportunity to congratulate and thank you once again for your agility, professionalism and positive attitude as we have worked together to make the best of the Covd-19 pandemic and its impact on nutrition, instruction and student services. The words resilient, ever-changing, unprecedented, social distancing, proper hygiene are now part of normal, daily conversation, as is "we are all in this together". You are “Heroes” among your peers and in our community, and on behalf of our students, parents, and community I want you to know you are appreciated for the phenomenal work this spring. I look forward to seeing and hearing from you over the summer.
