3rd Annual Shady Brook Pumpkin Painting Contest
Pumpkins should be painted at home, and should not be carved. Upon arriving at school, painted pumpkins should be brought to the Front Office, and will be displayed all week in our Media Center. Please make sure the student NAME and TEACHER's NAME is written small somewhere with a black Sharpie Marker on the Pumpkin so we can identify the artist!
There will be four categories for judging, and all entries will be eligible for each category.
1. Most Creative Pumpkin
2. Scariest Pumpkin
3. Funniest Pumpkin
4. Best Pumpkin Artistry
The deadline for pumpkin entry is Thursday, October 10th, and the winners will be announced on Friday, October 11th. All Pumpkins will be sent home with students on Monday, October 14th.
And one piece of advice we learned from the last few years; don't use anything to prick the skin of the Pumpkin in any way. We were really surprised at how just the smallest prick or puncture of the pumpkins' skin really speeds up the rotting process of the pumpkin! Some awesome pumpkins starting rotting after just a day or two that had little things poked in the skin.
Here are some great entries from years past!
Fall Festival
And our Shady Brook Spirit Week will conclude on Saturday with our Fall Festival on Saturday from 2:00-5:00. They’ll be tons of free games and activities, bounce house, and Kona Ice! We'll have Pizza, Popcorn, and drinks all for 1:00 each. It’s going to be a great afternoon at Shady Brook, and we’d love to see everyone there!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Its hard to believe, but the first quarter of school will end on October 16th, and it will be time for parent-teacher conferences. Meeting with your child's teacher is crucial in ensuring their academic success, as well as having a truly strong understanding of KCS's Standards Based Grading process and Report Cards.
Each child's Standards Based Report Card will be fully explained during the conference, and sent home to families on October 24th. Please be on the lookout for communication from your child’s teacher about conferences, get signed up for a conference slot!
