Exciting Opportunity That Is Being Piloted at Stoneleigh This Year
Our school is home to the Double Robot, a two-wheeled videoconferencing robot that enables a student to learn remotely. The robot was acquired through a telepresence grant for the purposes of providing services to students on Home and Hospital. The robot provides the student an opportunity to feel more connected to peers by giving him/her a physical presence in school.
We are excited to have been chosen to pilot this technology this year. If you would like to receive more information about the robot and the technology that makes this possible, please visit https://www.doublerobotics.com/faq.html. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We have a finalist in the Maryland “I Voted” Sticker Student Art Competition for Maryland!
Flory Thomas, Stoneleigh Elementary School
If she wins her sticker will be used on voting day 2020 across the state! Her submission is pictured above. We want to get the word out about public voting – you vote by the image.
Use this link to cast your vote: https://forms.gle/ffquuBJmj8bRVLgQ6
Let’s help Flory win!
Over 650 students submitted artwork for the competition from all across the state. The Maryland State Board of Elections in partnership with the Fine Arts Office of the Maryland State Department of Education invited student artists in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade to be inspired by Maryland, voting, or elections in Maryland. A panel of guest artists representing every Maryland region judged the artwork for creativity, technique, craftsmanship and concept. Flory's work was selected as the top 3 artworks in their school division category (elementary, middle and high).
The artwork with the most votes in each school division category will be declared the winner. Three student artists will make history and have THEIR ORIGINAL ARTWORK printed on voting stickers and distributed at voting polling locations all across the state beginning in 2020. Additionally, cash prizes will be awarded to the winning students and their art teacher.
Cast your ballot soon as voting will close on November 15.

For 5th Grade Parents and Guardians
From Dumbarton Middle School Unable to Offer 5th Grade Parents/Guardians Visit During American Education Week
We apologize for the change, but we are only hosting parents of our current students for American Education Week. Parents of 5th graders are invited to the evening orientation on November 20th. They will be able to see our school then. We received updated guidance from BCPS and due to the number of parents we already have joining us (400 students in each grade level), we are unable to accommodate 5th grade parents. It becomes a safety issue in terms of the number of people we have in the building and identifying them. Thanks for your understanding.
See the attached flyer titled DMS Parent Orientation Invitation 2019-20 for more information about the November 20th parent orientation.
