September 2021 Federal Document: Drought

Drought impacts every being. It’s hard to swallow when the ground disintegrates underfoot and dust swirls in quick winds. Drought today spreads wide from the western third of the United States through South Dakota, hugging the Canadian border to the East Coast. In the 1988 federal document, "Impact of Drought Conditions on Livestock & Dairy Producers," South Dakota’s Governor George Mickelson and two other committee members made several recommendations including: "Insure adequate assistance to livestock producers for water supplies" (p. 16).

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
