Who & Where Was It Invented

Cat scans and MRIs have become very important to our medical world today. They are in use everyday and can help save a tremendous amount of lives. Cat scans were invented by Godfrey Hounsfield and Allan Cormack in 1972 in England and due to them creating this, they won the Nobel Peace Prize. The first magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine was created by Raymond Avian Damadian in 1977 in New York, United States of America.

What Is It Made Of

CAT Scans are made of three parts including the gantry, the computer, and the system that operates it. The primary functioning parts of an MRI system include an external magnet, gradient coils, RF equipment, and a computer. Other components include an RF shield, a power supply, NMR probe, display unit, and a refrigeration unit.

How Does It Work

Cat scans and MRI machines don't require too much skill to use. Cat scans use X-rays in order to scan someone and MRIs function on powerful magnetic field and radio frequencies. Magnetic resonance imaging is a medical device that uses a magnetic field and the natural resonance of atoms in the body to obtain images of human tissues.

What is its impact on society

MRIs and Cat scans have a colossal impact on our society. They can help thousands of people survive critical injuries, tumors, cancer, and other things that can harm them. It can also impact our society by helping doctors detect and diagnose diseases in their early stages.

What is the impact of your innovation on Globalization

Our world would look entirely different if it weren't for the Globalization of MRIs and Cat scans. There wouldn't be lots of places that provide Cat scans or MRIs if it weren't for this and might cause people to travel vast distances to get one. This could also impact how these two innovations evolve in the future since there wouldn't be as many people contributing to them.

How has it impacted the way people use their resources

This product has impacted the way people use their resources by possibly causing people to spend money due to the price of MRIs and Cat Scans. This could have a huge impact on lower income families.

How has it impacted where people live

Cat scans and MRIs have effected where people live by possibly forcing people to live near or around a location with a hospital that has a Cat scan or MRI machine due to serious injuries. It can also impact where doctors and nurses live because they might want to live near the hospital they work at and not be too far away.

How has it impacted the way people interact with each other

MRIs and CAT scans have effected the way people interact with others by understanding and taking the right procedures of their injuries to their everyday lives and having the proper restrictions on actions and abilities. It also impacts how people interact by making people more aware of possible injuries and know what to expect and how to properly treat others while they are injured.
