About a Tropical Rainforest
Tropical rain forests are forests with tall trees, warm climates, and lots of rain. In some rain forests it rains more than one inch nearly every day of the year!
Rainforests are found in Africa, Asia, Australia, and Central and South America. The largest rainforest in the world is the Amazon rainforest in South America.
Toucans
The toucan lives in South America's tropical rain forests. It has an oversized colorful bill that it uses for eating. Their bright colors help them to camouflage.
Orchids
Orchids are common in moist tropical regions. They vary in shape, color and size. They have three petals and three petal-like sepals and they grow on trees.
Kapok Tree
The Kapok Tree is an emergent tree of tropical rain forests. It can grow to a height of 150 feet or more! Many plants and animals grow and live in the branches of the Kapok tree.
