The Crawford Chronicle

November 2022

Dear Crawford Families,

The year seems to be flying by. This Friday, November 11 marks the midpoint of the second nine weeks. Midterm progress reports will be available on November 17. You can always check your student's progress on Infinite Campus at:

https://fayetteky.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/fayette.jsp. Please contact teachers about any missing assignments to make sure content has been mastered and to help improve grades.

This is a reminder that students are not permitted to carry their cell phones with them during the school day. Please continue to encourage your students to follow our expectations, as our goal is to improve the climate and culture in our classrooms and on campus by eliminating cell phone distractions during the school day. If your student brings a phone (or other personal electronic device) to school, they will need to place it in their locker upon arrival, and keep it there through dismissal. We appreciate our families support in keeping our students engaged in learning while at school.

Please make sure you watch Mr. Jones' message included below.

Sincerely,

Mr. Jones, Mrs. Piatt, and Mr. Taylor

All-Star Rewards

Every three weeks, student have the opportunity to earn their team reward (7th Inning Stretch). These students have an employability on eOS at 85% or higher, fewer than eight negative taps, no behavior referrals, and two or less focus referrals. The majority of our students are doing a great job following our school/classroom expectations and earning this reward!

Each nine weeks, we reward our All-Star students. These students exemplify our Crawford Creed everyday. To earn the All-Star reward, students must have 95% or higher on their eOS employability, no negative taps, and no behavior or focus referrals. For the first nine weeks we celebrated over 340 students with Kona Ice. This means that nearly half of our students achieved this higher status!

Scholastic Book Fair

With a different event each day and just in time for the holiday season, our Scholastic Book Fair will be November 28 - December 2. Click the Scholastic ribbon below to view our homepage for more details!

Employability Operating System (eOS)

What is eOS?

The Employability Operating System, or eOS, is an online tool the school uses to track level I student behavior. Students are provided school wide expectations (Crawford Creed) that they are to meet during the course of the school day.

How can I access eOS?

Families and students can access the Employability Operating System (eOS) by following the directions below on your phone, tablet, or computer.

How students access the eOS system

  • Click on the following link or type the following web address into a search engine https://eos.fcps.net

  • Login using your Fayette County school email and password.

  • You can now use the eOS system!

  • You will be able to track your Employability, Focus Taps, and hall passes.

How parents access the eOS system

  • Click on the following link or type the following web address into a search engine https://eos.fcps.net

  • Parents/guardians have to register first (the link is at the bottom left of the login page).

  • Families must use the email that is registered in Infinite Campus in order to follow a student.

  • Once the form is filled out and you click register, you will be sent a confirmation email.

  • This email expires in one hour so it is extremely important that you check and respond to the confirmation email. Otherwise you will have to repeat the process.

  • You can now use the eOS system!

  • You can monitor your students Employability, Focus Taps, and hall passes.

Using the eOS system on mobile devices for students and parents

  • There is no App in the App Store or Market Place, however, you can add the site to your home screen on both platforms and it will act just like an app!

Device Free Learning Environment

Students have been adjusting well to our new procedures with cell phones and other personal electronic devices. If a student needs to contact home, they may use a classroom or front office phone. If you need to get a message to or speak with your student, you can call the school's front office number at 859-381-3370. We appreciate our families' support in this.

Backpacks and Lockers

Students may not carry their backpacks to class. Upon arrival, students are expected to retrieve any items needed for class (students always need their chromebook) and place their backpacks and phones in their lockers. Each team has designated locker breaks, and any other times, students will need to have permission from an adult. Please reach out to your student's teachers if you have any questions about when they are permitted to go to their lockers. Students have received a free Crawford clear string bag that students are allowed to carry to class.

Morning Arrival and Afternoon Dismissal

Students are welcomed into the building starting at 8:35 a.m. Please note that students dropped off prior to 8:35 a.m. may sit on the front or back porch, however, there is no adult supervision. Upon entering the building, they will have the option to eat breakfast before reporting to their homeroom class. First period begins at 9:05 a.m at which time students will be considered tardy to school.

  • Car riders must be dropped off on the front side of our building (the football field side). Please follow all staff directing traffic and have your student exit from the right side of the vehicle.

  • Walkers may enter through the front or back entrance, whichever is closest on their route.

  • When driving on campus, please drive slowly and follow directions of the staff.

Our dismissal process will begin at 3:55 p.m. Please be patient as we release smaller groups of students to the buses, cars, and to walk home to limit the number of students in the hallways.

  • Car riders must be picked up on the front side of our building (the football field side). Please pull all the way around the loop, drive forward to the stop sign, and have your student enter through the right side of the vehicle.

  • Walkers are dismissed last to keep them safe from the car rider and bus traffic on campus. Walkers may exit through the front or back entrance, whichever is closest on their route.

  • When driving on campus, please drive slowly and follow directions of the staff.
